About this campaign

Ella, also known as Bella, was born in Tijuana last October (2019). We adopted her in January and she’s taken over the house. Ella has an older brother, Miko, that she loves to torment and an older sister, Rosie, that feels her little shadow pestering her every moment. They absolutely love each other and have created a firm bond.

Ella pretends to fall asleep next to you, then slinks her way closer and closer until she’s snuggling incognito. She’s such an independent spirit, until it’s bedtime, then she requires a little lift into the bed to sleep with us. The older dogs look to her to get treats and extra food; she’s got a knack for begging.

We’ve already spent over $2,000 just on her diagnosis. After buying our house in December 2019, all of our money went to that. I’m currently unemployed attempting to get back on my feet, but it hasn’t been easy. We don’t want money as the reason Ella doesn’t get proper care.

Ella has a small sore on her ear that was nagging and wouldn’t heal, so we took her to VCA Grossmont. Dr Avon did cytology and determined it to be Mast Cell Carcinoma. We were referred to Pet Emergency & Specialty Clinic where her oncologist, Dr Benz, completed a CT of her abdomen, chest x-ray, and FNA of her lymph nodes. She had elevated mast cells in one lymph node, otherwise okay.

Miss Ella sounds like Chewbacca when she’s playing. It’s like she’s having a full conversation with who never is in front of her. Even Rosie and Miko look at us for translation. Ella has learned the art of the head tilt. She hears anything out of the ordinary and she’s the first to tilt her head, then move towards the questionable sound. She’s a leader in our house.
