About this campaign

In 2021, we adopted Ellie and his two sisters from the animal shelter. We originally went for one cat, but ended up with three littermates because they were so bonded! It seems we have a crew of cats who have found us who have higher needs than many. Yup, in the past two years, ALL FOUR of our cats have had or are currently dealing with a life-threatening disease.

Ellie is at the emergency vet with inappetance, lethargy and labored breathing. It’s “heart failure due to cardiomyopathy” at three years old. We are looking at a current MINIMUM vet bill at MedVet in Asheville of $3K. It will likely be somewhere between $4K - $5K. Ellie is currently receiving oxygen therapy, diuretics and heart medication.

Ellie is a Zen cat. He regularly lays around on his back and enjoys a fine afternoon in the sun on the patio. He knows how to play the piano, loves giving high fives, can lay down, sit, and loves music. He loves to eat and play with his sisters and sleep next to his human mama at night.

We are a rescue family. But health events keep happening: one cat has neuro damage from FIP and is incontinent. Another has kidney disease. Another cat beat FIP. And now Ellie’s heart failure. All have medications and supplements they must take to live their best lives.
