About this campaign
This is Elly, a 4 year old very happy and active Jack Russell Terrier. I got her from an Amish farm 4 years ago after my last dog of 18 years passed away. She is my world! She lives here with her rag doll cat sister whom she loves to chase and get chased around the house with. She also has a box turtle sibling that she has not met. She is a terrier and may think the turtle is one of her toys!
Elly is very loved and a little spoiled, she is constantly keeping is entertained with her funny energetic personality. She is very protective of me, and will warn me of the potential dangers of the mailman or the big dogs walking by or even the leaves falling off of the trees. Oh and squirrels very dangerous!
This surgery is estimated at 5500-7500. I have no way of affording this. I am a divorced mom who takes care of the elderly for a living. I work 6 days a week, and can barely afford my rent. My son does live with me and helps out, but due to covid19 is on unemployment.
3 weeks ago, Elly became very unstable in her hind legs. I took her to her vet and they referred me to a neurologist at “Veterinary Neurology & Imaging of the Chesapeake”, By the end of the day, Elly had no use of her hind legs. She ended up in the ER and was transferred to neurology on Monday. She had an MRI which showed a large ruptured disc between T12 - T13 vertebrae. emer. Surgery was needed
Elly is full of energy, love long walks, playing ball (mostly keep away, not fetch) absolutely loves the snow and has done some back yard agility courses. The only fear she has is thunderstorms. She trembles and can not get close enough to me when they occur. She also loves to snuggle under the covers with her favorite humans.
