About this campaign
Elmer had been adopted by my eldest sister, but she got really sick and wasn't able to care for him anymore and wanted to take him back. I wouldn't allow that to happen, I grabbed my other cats cage, hopped in a Uber, and flew across town to get him. Elmer lives with me and another cat that he is a lot older than, and they get along great. Even with the little amount of money I had, I needed him.
Elmer is such a big ball of joy. He makes me so happy with how he loves sleeping with us and my other cat. He is always down to take a nap, especially after a meal. He also loves to be rubbed under his neck, so he will sit in front of us until someone rubs him and will literally rub his head against your hand until you do.
I am a nursing student and I pay for everything out of pocket with no assistance. I have maxed out all of my emergency money on his vet bills.
On Feb 28th of this year, Elmer was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his right front paw. As you can see in the photos, the cancer has eaten through his bones so bad that his paw has curled up and he is unable to walk on it (it won’t even bend). Elmer cancer has not spread and they are giving the option of amputation or chemotherapy. We are leaning towards amputation.
Elmer loves to sleep in front heater. He will literally sleep underneath the heater or super close and if you move the heater, he will move right along with it, he loves it. When I turn it off because its too hot in my room, he will meow until I turn it back on. It's so heartwarming to see. I have hard days at work and coming home to him and Rosie (white cat) makes me feel so much better.
