Elwood is a 9-year-old Poodle Mix in Santa Monica, CA, who needs $2,000 for Lung Lobectomy.

I found Elwood and his brother Jake in a rescue center in Hollywood. There were 6 months old and had never been apart. It was love at first sight. The three of us have been inseparable for the last 8.5 years. We do everything together including travel. Elwood is sweet and soulful, but energetic and fun. He and his brother run around like puppies and play tricks on each other all the time.

We have three small rescue dogs, Elwood is thoughtful and empathetic. He will quietly walk up to us with a kiss or a snuggle when anyone needs one. He sleeps at the foot of the bed facing the door to protect us. We call Elwood “The Goat Dog” because he hops. He hops up the ladder to the bed like a goat and he has a red beanbag chair that he hops on too.

Elwood waits at the bottom of the stairs every morning to ambush his brother. His brother falls for it every time. He likes to play “shark dog” by climbing under the covers and popping out and with a fake growl. He and his brother play another game with me where I throw a rope down the hall and they run after it and bring it back together. They can do that for hours.

Elwood has always been in great health. He developed a cough and when we took him to our vet, he saw a tumor on his lung in the X-ray. He says that we need to remove it immediately before it spreads. He is expected to make a full recovery if we can do the surgery soon.

I lost my job during the pandemic and my wife was diagnosed with cancer. We spent the last 2 years dealing with her treatment and an unstable job environment so money has been very tight. We were in the process of downsizing when Elwood was diagnosed. We can’t lose Elwood.
