About this campaign
Emmy is a almost 12-year-old terrier mix adopted from the Baton Rouge Shelter in 2015. She lives with me, her disabled veteran guardian, and has become my untrained but highly intuitive service dog, helping me manage PTSD, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Emmy is currently undergoing chemotherapy for relapsed B-cell lymphoma.
Emmy was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma at LSU Small Animal Clinic in October 2023. She successfully completed the CHOP chemotherapy protocol and went into remission in May 2024. Sadly, she relapsed in January 2025 and is now undergoing a second round of CHOP at LSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Emmy is incredibly intuitive and loving. After the loss of my other dog, she became my untrained service dog—alerting me to PTSD episodes and calming me during panic attacks by lying across my chest or placing her paw in my hand. She’s gentle, loyal, and brings comfort to everyone she meets.
As a 100% disabled veteran on a fixed income, I’ve stretched every dollar to afford Emmy’s cancer treatment. Having her healthy again means keeping my service dog, emotional support, and best friend by my side—she’s truly essential to my daily well-being.
