Meet Enzo, a lovable five-year-old German Shepherd from Georgia who is bravely battling heartworm disease — a serious and painful condition that requires urgent treatment. Without care, his health will continue to decline. But with help, Enzo can get back to doing what he loves most: running, playing, and enjoying life with his family.

Enzo’s journey to safety began when he appeared on a shelter euthanasia list. His foster family saw his photo, noticed the gray on his snout, and couldn’t stop thinking about him — imagining their own dog in that position. When no one stepped forward by the deadline, they made the decision to foster him, giving Enzo a second chance at life. After leaving the shelter, Enzo faced several health challenges, including kennel cough and whipworms. During follow-up care, he was also diagnosed as heartworm positive. The diagnosis explained why he tired easily and needed extra rest — and it meant he would need immediate, specialized treatment.

Enzo has already completed 30 days of doxycycline and has started preventative medication. His next step is melarsomine injections — the life-saving treatment that will eliminate the heartworms. Despite everything he’s been through, Enzo has settled into his foster home beautifully. He’s formed a close bond with his new canine sibling and has brought so much joy into their lives. His family is committed to giving him the long, healthy life he deserves — and your support can help make that possible.

We are so happy to share that, thanks to the incredible generosity of Waggle donors, Enzo is now receiving the heartworm treatment he desperately needed. When Enzo left the shelter euthanasia list behind, his foster family promised him a second chance at life. But that second chance came with unexpected medical hurdles, including his heartworm diagnosis — a serious condition that would have continued to damage his heart and lungs without prompt intervention.

Because of your support, Enzo is now able to move forward with the critical treatment plan his veterinarians recommended. This means he is one step closer to being heartworm-free, healthy, and able to enjoy the active, happy life every dog deserves.
