Esther, a senior dog estimated to be around fifteen years old, was found struggling in 100 degree temps on the streets of Fulshear, Texas, in a HEARTBREAKING state of neglect. She was barely even recognizable as a dog, she was SO matted! Abandoned and barely clinging to life, she was brought to the Fort Bend Shelter. For YEARS she had suffered, her health now hanging in a precarious state.

This sweet girl was starved, and weak, each movement a strenuous effort. She was more than just thin; she was skeletal. When she was found, she didn’t know what to do, not knowing how to hunt for food or seek shelter! She just sat there on the side of the road, trembling and pleading pitifully for help. Esther now suffers from double cherry eyes and bilateral corneal ulcers, leaving her in constant pain and with severely impaired vision. Her dental health is equally dire, with many missing teeth and the remaining ones severely infected. Her biggest health is a HUGE bladder stone that is obstructing her ability to urinate without pain. She needs a $2000 surgery to remove the stone.
