Fancy’s Fight to Heal

Meet Fancy.

She should have been safe. She should have been protected. Instead, Fancy was found lying in the middle of the road after being hit by a car. She refused to leave her two babies who had already passed. She was still tied to them, with a piece of a gate dragging behind her, as if she had tried desperately to move them to safety.

When Fancy arrived at the rescue, it was immediately clear she had endured severe, long-term abuse and neglect. Our vet believes that along with the long-term abuse that Fancy was used as a bait dog. All of her legs appear to have been broken at some point and never treated, leaving permanent deformities, along with many scars, swollen joints, severe emaciation, and a very heavy heartworm infection. Despite all of this, she still walks, plays, and greets everyone with a wagging tail.

Her treatment plan will include addressing her joints and skin first to prevent further infection. Because heartworm treatment is intense, her care team must first stabilize her body before beginning the heartworm protocol.

At the rescue, she earned the nickname \\\_“the kitchen monitor.”\\\_ She would lie peacefully on her dog bed, watching the daily hustle and bustle with quiet curiosity, soaking in the love she was never given before.

Even after everything, Fancy still trusts humans. Her heart remains wide open.

Fancy’s past is painful, but her future can be bright.

6/19/26 Update: From Survivor to Sweetheart: An Update on Fancy

Because of your generosity, Fancy is getting the medical care she desperately needs and deserves.

We're happy to report that Fancy is thriving in her foster home. She has discovered a love for playing, splashing in the water, and simply being a dog. The scared, neglected girl we first met is continuing to blossom every day.

Fancy has officially begun her heartworm treatment and is doing well so far. She still has a journey ahead of her, but thanks to your support, she now has the resources needed to heal.

Most importantly, Fancy is learning what love, safety, and kindness feel like. Despite everything she has endured, she remains one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet.
