About this campaign
I adopted Fergie from Hilton Head Humane after seeing her pictures on their Facebook page. She was listed as the shelter’s oldest resident and was featured in a local magazine which said that she loved to cuddle! I knew Fergie would be the perfect addition for me and my senior mini Aussie rescue, Duke. We adopted Fergie at HH Humane’s annual dog walk event on April 29, 2023.
Fergie and Duke get along great and she also respects the resident parakeets. She loves treats and playing with toys. She loves walks and outings but she is equally happy to come home and nap on the couch.
Fergie caught my attention with her one ear that sticks up like a radar. Her other ear has a lot of scar tissue from previous infections and lays flat. She also had puppies at some point and I’m sure she was a great mom. Luckily, she was found as a stray, taken in by her rescue, was spayed and vaccinated and then landed her forever home after about 9 months at the shelter.
Fergie tore her CCL (ligament in knee) while running. She is unable to place weight on the leg and our vet recommends surgery to repair the knee. The estimate for this procedure is $2582. She is a perfect candidate for the surgery based on her age, slim build and size. With the surgery she can expect a full recovery!
After adopting Fergie, I took her for a new pet exam and she needed medications for allergies, a dental cleaning and removal of 6 teeth, and vaccines. This cost around $1500 and another $2500 in the first two months of having her is very tough.
