A Tiny CH Baby Alone With No One to Protect Him — Starving & Struggling Just to Stay Alive

When CH Baby Francis appeared at a food truck, there was no mama cat beside him. No one was protecting him or making sure he had enough to eat. And because Francis has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), he was already facing challenges that would have made life on the streets even more dangerous.
CH affects coordination and balance, leaving Francis wobbly and unsteady on his feet. For a tiny kitten navigating cars, predators, and the countless dangers of life outdoors, surviving on his own was almost unimaginable.Thankfully, someone noticed Francis and reached out for help.
When he entered rescue Wild Whiskers Inc., his CH was obvious—but his caregivers quickly realized something else was wrong. Francis appeared increasingly neurological and began declining. Eventually, he stopped getting out of bed. Bloodwork revealed just how serious things had become: his sodium was off the charts.
His rescue team knew they couldn't give up on this tiny baby. With help from his veterinary team, Francis began an intensive treatment plan that includes twice-daily subcutaneous fluids and oral medications at home. His bloodwork has started improving—and even more encouragingly, Francis started playing again.
For the first time, this little fighter began acting like the kitten he was always meant to be.
Francis also receives weekly ozone treatments as part of his ongoing supportive care, and his rescue has already spent significantly on diagnostics, bloodwork, treatments, and other veterinary expenses.
But Francis's medical journey isn't over. He will remain in a long-term medical foster home until his veterinarians determine that he is healthy and stable enough to be considered for adoption. Until then, his rescue must continue covering his ongoing medical care.
Francis may be wobbly. He may need extra help. But he is happy, he is playing, and he is living a life worth fighting for. His rescue said yes to Francis when he had nowhere else to go. Now, they need help keeping that promise.

We have another wonderful update on sweet Francis! ❤️
Francis continues to do well and is getting stronger every day. He came through his recent surgery beautifully and, true to his determined little personality, was back to his normal self without missing a beat!
We’re also seeing encouraging progress with his balance and coordination. Francis used to flop around quite a bit, but now he is learning to pause, steady himself, and regain his balance before continuing on. It may seem like a small change, but for this special CH kitten, these little improvements are something worth celebrating.
Francis is scheduled to receive his rabies vaccine this week. Because he has experienced significant reactions to previous vaccines, including fever and lethargy that have required supportive fluids, his foster family will be watching him closely and making sure he gets whatever care he needs.
Through it all, Francis continues to show just how resilient and determined he is. He is growing stronger, learning new ways to navigate the world, and enjoying life surrounded by people and feline friends who love him.

Sweet Francis continues to do well in his foster home and is showing everyone just how much joy and personality he has to share. Surrounded by loving care and plenty of companionship, this special little kitten is growing, playing, and enjoying all the things kittenhood should be about.
His dedicated foster family and rescue continue to make sure he has everything he needs to stay comfortable, healthy, and happy as he grows. While Francis still has ongoing care ahead of him, he is making wonderful progress and proving every day that his CH doesn't define him.
We’re continuing to raise funds to help cover Francis’s veterinary care and everyday needs as he grows and prepares for his forever home.

We have such a wonderful update to share about sweet Francis! ❤️
This special CH kitten is absolutely thriving in his foster home. He has feline and kitten friends to keep him company, and he loves nothing more than snuggling and playing with them! Watching Francis enjoy the companionship, comfort, and love he deserves is exactly what we hoped for.
Francis was also neutered last week. Because of his CH, his procedure required a little extra care and his pain needed to be managed carefully. But Francis didn't let that slow him down for long!
He was playing almost immediately after surgery, acting like nothing had happened. His determination and happy spirit continue to amaze everyone caring for him.
Francis still has a long road ahead, and his care doesn't end with his surgery. His foster family and rescue are continuing to provide everything he needs to stay healthy, comfortable, and happy while he grows and prepares for his forever home.
