I recently adopted Franklin from a breeder in Northern Minnesota. I was originally planning on getting a little girl, but when I saw Franklin’s face I fell in love and knew he was the one. I brought him home to my apartment in Minneapolis just last Saturday and he and I quickly bonded. I have an emotional support animal certificate for him and had been waiting for him for years.

Franklin adores everyone he meets. I’ve never met a more gentle puppy soul. More than anything, he loves to snuggle and show affection by giving kisses and nuzzling up to his people. He also has a spunky personality and likes to show his distaste for the cold Minnesota weather by letting out tiny sized little squeaks. His favorite nap spots are on my chest or in his burrow bed.

My pet insurance for Franklin has not kicked in yet because I just got him and I do not have the reserves to pay for the supportive care that he needs. It would mean the world to me to be able to do everything I can for him without having to resort to humane euthanasia.

Franklin’s health needs are emergent, but he can recover with supportive care. He is currently only 2 lbs so his body couldn’t handle the extensive amount of worms in his GI tract. That caused him to stop eating so he requires a central line to provide him with nutrition and give his stomach a chance to heal. He was being treated at the Veterinary Medical Center- UMN, but now he’s at BluePearl.

When I was first handed Franklin in his little baby blanket he stared up at me and we had a moment. I told him that I would take good care of him and he responded by giving me me an overwhelming amount of kisses. I’ve never felt so connected to a pet and although he’s only been in my care for a short time, I’ve witnessed his sweet curiosity, bravery, and magnetic love.
