About this campaign
We rescued Fred recently from a horrible situation. He was kept in a cage for the last 3 years, only let out to breed. With two puppies in the house already, we said we weren't going to get a third... But our hearts instantly melted when we saw his profile and we have a soft spot for elderly and special needs dogs. He has made such an imprint on us and our family already. 🐾
Fred wants to spend every second next to his people. He is especially attached to my husband and whines and howls every time he leaves the house. He waits at the window all day until we return from work. He is sweet, charming, loving, mellow, and patient. He gives absolutely no fuss when we need to put his diaper on or give him his insulin shots. Our two lab puppies help him feel young again!
Fred is a true gentleman. He's not overbearing or pushy for attention; just stares at us lovingly until we pet him. He sits quietly among the family, soaking up the company he shares and just happy to feel included. He greets us with the sweetest squeals and hugs... His heart is as big as his ears! While he is a mellow guy, he is equally silly and goofy... especially with his senior zoomies 😄
Fred needed an emergency vet visit the day before his pet insurance activated. During this visit, a splenic mass was discovered and is now considered a pre-existing condition that insurance will not help to cover any associated costs for moving forward. He was diagnosed with diabetes shortly before this visit, which is now also a considered pre-existing condition that we cannot get support for.
We are struggling to pay for this $3,784 surgery after already putting $4,500 into his care (in addition to the ongoing costs of insulin). This sweet boy deserves to live out his full life... We are not ready to give up on him yet. ❤️
