Gaia is a 2-year-old Mixed Breed Dog in Tallahassee, FL, who needs $2,000 for Knee Surgery.

As a puppy, Gaia was found with her siblings in a box beside the highway. Abandoned by an unknown owner and left to die, a good Samaritan found the box full of small, malnourished puppies and took them to Jefferson County Humane Society. There she was named Tiny Tina because she was the runt of her litter within the box and became a volunteer favorite for her sweet and calm nature.

This is when we found Tiny Tina and named her Gaia after Mother Earth, and this name fits her perfectly! Most people would call a new pack member a sibling to the other pet members, however, here, Gaia is Fenrir’s mama. She has taught him how to play nicely, how to share, how to nap and cuddle, and most importantly how to love even after a loss. Gaia has taught us that too—how to love after loss.

The volunteers at the JCHS kept her in the front office with them as her littermates tended to bully her. Because of this and her early abandonment, Tiny Tina became very submissive and afraid of many things. Today Gaia is still very afraid, but with our love and the love of her brother she grows braver every day. She loves other animals and people and treats!

Gaia has a degenerative condition where her ACL (CCL in Dogs) has broken down and torn. Because of this, she needs knee surgery on BOTH of her knees. Without this surgery, she will continue to feel pain and her quality of life will be tremendously weakened. Capital Veterinarian Specialists is doing one surgery for 2990.63 and Dr. Carl Jehn is doing all post-op for free.

In December of 2020, Phyros, at 2 years old, died of complications from an undiagnosed heart tumor. This broke our family.. Because of this, we maxed out our credit cards trying to save Phyros. We are at a loss with what to do to pay for another unexpected cost
