Gary’s life almost ended over a treatable condition, now he needs your help

Sweet, chubby Gary was living his happy, normal life until one night everything changed. He suddenly stopped eating and drinking and could no longer make it to the litter box to urinate. Panicked, his family rushed him to the vet only to hear the scary news: Gary had diabetes. Within hours, his condition spiraled into diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious and life-threatening complication.

He needed immediate hospitalization and intensive care to survive. But when faced with the reality of a nearly $5000 medical bill, Gary’s family decided they could no longer care for him. Despite his illness being the result of his weight gain — something that could have been managed — they chose to walk away.

Thankfully, Eclipse Specialty Vet Care refused to give up on him. They knew Gary’s condition was treatable and that he deserved a fighting chance. All they needed was someone to step in and help. That’s when A Pathway to Hope Rescue answered the call. Now, with the help of the specialty hospital, A Pathway to Hope is managing Gary’s treatment. Once he’s stable, he’ll head to a foster home.
