Gemma is a 6-year-old Pit in Allentown, PA, who needs $2,000 for ruptured ACL repair.

I rescued Gemma from Furry Feet rescue 3 years ago. She was found roaming the Pennsylvania state game lands. She had given birth and when she was no longer needed she was abandoned in the woods. She was flea infested and thin. She was also not friendly with men. I saw her online and applied immediately.

She fit quite well with my three other dogs, Cloe, a Jack Russell, Dexter, a pug and Jax, a Chihuahua. She is wonderful with them. I'm sure she was a great Mom. I named her after Gemma, the Mom figure on Son's of Anarchy. Jax is also named after the show. She loves to run around the fenced in yard and loves being sprayed by water.

Yesterday Gemma tore her right ACL. I found a surgeon who will do the surgery for $2937.95. One leg.. She's scheduled next week. I live on social security, which is not much. I need help to make Gemma better so she can run and enjoy life.

In June Gemma started limping with her left rear leg. A trip to my vet started her on medication. I tried braces but was unsuccessful. My Mom was now in a hospital bed so I put off Gemma's surgery. She was doing well even walking on her leg. August 7th my Mom passed away so I made an appointment with a surgeon who wanted $5 to 6 thousand for one leg.

She is a big lap dog and loves sleeping in bed every night. Two years ago I quit my job and took early retirement so I could care for my elderly Mother. She needed 24 hour care and I didn't want to have her go to a nursing home. Then Covid hit. I'm so thankful Mom was safe at home. I had doggie doors installed in all doors leading to the enclosed yard so everyone could come and go.
