Gertrude was emaciated and starving, so desperate he came right up to my friend’s home. She called me, and I couldn't say no.
We rushed him to a clinic to check for a chip and get him examined.
They told us if he went to a shelter, he'd likely be put down because of his condition. I couldn't let that happen. I wanted to give him a chance to get better because he is so sweet-so he lives with me.

We brought Gertrude to Solon
Animal Hospital at only 5.6 lbs-so fragile for a 1-year-old. With care, he showed small signs of hope, but soon he grew weak again, stopped eating, barely moved, and began vomiting bile. I took him back, where his pale gums led the vet to run bloodwork showing possible immune mediated hemolytic anemia. His fecal tests also show hook worm and lung worm in his body.

Even while so sick, Gertrude just wants love. He meows a lot - sometimes silently-just to be near us, rubbing his head against mine and purring, though less as he grows weaker. he is so sweet and gentle to any person who wants to be with him. I spend every moment I can with him, and it breaks my heart to see him fading, but I'll do everything possible to help this sweet angel.

I couldn't put Gertrude down. My own cat has insurance, but Gertrude doesn't-and as a recent graduate, covering his care has been so hard. Still, I want to save him. He's fading right now, and I'm praying for help to give this sweet boy the chance he deserves.
