About this campaign
He was a normal happy playful kitten we adopted. He suddenly got sick, lethargic, was epileptic and went blind. To make a long story short was misdiagnosed with neuro FIP and was treated for that for 112 days. Thousands of dollars later we took him to a neurologist and internal medicine specialist who help us find his true diagnosis, a liver shunt. He now needs surgery.
We adopted Gibby for my 16 year old daughter as a therapy companion to help her with her anxiety and depression. She loves him so much and his medical fight has been extremely hard for her and our entire family as we all love him so much.
Gibby is so special, he brings my daughter tons of joy. She cuddles him and helps relieve her anxiety and stress. Although Gibby has lost his eye sight due to neurological damage he still gets around very well and eats, drinks and uses the litter box really well. When he hears us in the room he does an adorable little trot over and loves chin rubs.
Gibbys story is so long and a lot to explain in a limited amount of characters so I will sum it up. He was misdiagnosed with FIP, had multiple ER visits, testing, monthly blood panels, FIP injection treatment for 112 days. We took him to a neurologist at Dove Lewis to get more answers, come to find out after bile acids, an ultrasound and a CT scan he has a liver shunt and never had FIP.
We have spent over $14,000 on Gibby, credit cards are maxed out and it’s been very hard since he got sick. We now have an answer for what his true diagnosis is and he is able to have surgery, the estimate is $6559-8896; we cannot afford it but want to do anything possible.
