About this campaign
Gimli is my beautiful boy, and my best friend. My love. I live with him in Long Beach, California. He’s a rescue and I have had him for two years. He came from a stressful household with other pets, so was very timid at first. He is the most amazing, bright, affectionate cat I have ever had. His fluff is the softest. His purr the quietest. He has the gentlest paws.
It’s just him and me. We spend time cuddling, he can give his paw and jump for treats. He plays the cup game too (hide a great under cups, he guesses the right one). He enjoys basking in the morning sunlight, snuggling with me, and sleeping on my tummy. He is a gentle boy, who doesn’t scratch, bite, or hiss. He’s truly wonderful.
I teach. It is such a rewarding job emotionally, but financially, it is very hard to make ends meet. His bills are very expensive after all the inpatient treatment, x-rays and tests. I have a second job as a tutor, but this has been a sledgehammer to my emergency funds.
Gimli has just been diagnosed with diabetes and an enlarged heart at Long Beach Animal Emergency. One of his treating doctors is Dr. Kerr. He may also have another underlying condition like asthma and further complications in his abdomen. Continued treatment will ensure he is given the best chance of survival, but it is far beyond my salary capabilities as a teacher at this stage.
Gimli loves to tell me it’s time foe breakfast by poking me in the face and jumping on me. He LOVES to bunt and nuzzle, and hide under blankets and clothes. He loves human smell which can be quite embarrassing, as hell sometimes just flop down in the dirty laundry basket. He is a big boy, and as a result can sometimes find himself too big to fit in boxes and cubby’s...he tries, though!
