Gnarly is a beloved member of our family, but we don't know his real age. He came to us from the Louisville Metro Animal House, where they estimated his age to be between two and three years old. We have had him for six years now, and he has been a focal point of our family ever since we brought him home. Gnarly was diagnosed with a heart murmur about three years ago. Recently, he has been having episodes where he gets very excited, then lies down, and a glaze comes over his face. He sways back and forth for about five minutes, and then when he snaps out of it, he is very thirsty and panting very fast. After about 20 minutes, he is back to his normal self. Car rides and trips to Mamaws. If Gnarly could talk he would say that those are his favorite things to do. Gnarly is very gentle. My wife is a special needs teacher and Gnarly goes to school quite often to interact with her students. When you look into his eyes you see more than a dog. I can see his soul. He has been a blessing to our family.

I have advanced heart failure. SSI is fighting the disability claim. I have not been able to work since last December due to my medical condition. I need my best friend with me as we fight this disease and prepare for a transplant.
