About this campaign

My precious Girls name is Gracie Mae. Gracie and I Where brought together a year ago when as a nurse I met her at a patients house. Gracie had been a stray who was taken in from freezing cold conditions with many other cats. Gracie had been put in a bathroom separated from the other cats because she wasn’t fixed. During my nurse visits to the home I met Gracie and each visit I would stop for a minute and visit with her. After a couple months still in the bathroom I think the isolation was making her depressed because she had stopped even looking up when I came in. The year before I met Gracie I had lost my 27 year old son unexpectedly and mother who I cared for at home also died and so I did not want to get attached to anyone or anything else because my heart was complete broken but it hurt me to watch Gracie without much interaction and it hurt worse to see her stop caring to interact, the women that took her in was so kind hearted but she couldn’t afford to fix Gracie at the time. I was in a very low place in my life and stayed in bed a lot when I was home. My health had been declining and I was very sick, I was about to have my 14th and 15th surgery, my son and mother where gone and all I did was cry. I brought Gracie home and did all the things you should do for your animal, I took her to the vet, got her fixed but I was determined to not get to attached and I think Gracie felt the same about me. We had both been thru to much to trust getting close to anyone. Maybe we could sense each other’s hesitation but we had one thing in common, we where both lonely and sad. Slowly but surely we came together. Maybe she realized I had saved her but what she didn’t realize was she saved me. Two months ago we where moving an hour away from our home and in the move Gracie got out and got lost. I thought I would die inside, something else gone from my life. I kept taking that 2 hour round trip ride daily to call her name, hang posters, check the food and shelter I left just Incase, but no Gracie. By some miracle 1 1/2 weeks later a friend went by the old house and there was Gracie, so thin and hurt from her foot caught in her cat collar, I can’t believe she was so determined to come home that she made it with her foot stuck in her color and hurt. I couldn’t believe it when I got the call, I cried happy tears this time. When Gracie got home she was tramatized, weak and only weighed 4 lbs and she was traumatized and barely left my side for the first few weeks. Now we are just two peas in a pod. I feel after all that we are meant to be together.
