About this campaign

One night as I was looking online, I came across Gracie. She was posted on a rescue site, that she was at a euthanizing shelter. I inquired about her and at the time and I was told that she had “weak back legs” . When she was brought out of the kennels she made a few bunny hops and fell over. She laid on the ground helplessly looking up at me. I said, "she’s ours, we're going to try to
help her.

After a couple of days, I took Gracie to our vet and they and X-rayed her body. I was told she had a severe case of hip dysplasia and she would likely need an FHO or THR. We were referred to UF Ortho to determine the best treatment for her. Dr Kim at UF said that Gracie is a worse case scenario and she would need a THR in addition to plates and screws because of how her legs have formed or an FHO.

Gracie is about 18 months old and while all she's known is pain, since she was born with both hips like this due to breeding, you would never guess it, as she doesn't give up. She is just the most loving dog. I have 2 (3Yr/6Yr) other dogs and she is constantly bringing life and excitement into them and us as a family. I am so very thankful that she has chosen us to share her love with.

I am on disabilty due to a rare genetic condition I have, that only affects a few hundred people in the world whereby I get rhabdomyolysis frequently-It's quite painful. My daughter was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in May that we also help.
