About this campaign
Gumbeaux is the only “grandpuppy” of my Chewie-a pure bred Chow-Chow. The neighbor’s pure bred German Shepherd, managed to get over here and make some pups, and Gumbeaux is the sweetest and most appreciative one of our doggies. He is a constant companion, as loyal as God makes them, and has a strong will and conviction to live, run, and share his lively and extra special joy making friendship. For some reason, no matter what, he thinks everybody, no matter sun or snow, hot or cold, when we run down to the river, he’s gonna get wet and shake it all over you! And he can’t keep from licking our noses every time we get close to his adorable, smiling face!
Our neighbors across the highway on the Mulberry River shot our dog, Gumbeaux, 4x, hit him with either a vehicle or heavy club, left him for dead, and I found him 1-2 days later after lying in the ditch bordering our property and theirs for only God knows how long. Miraculously, he was alive. I rushed him to the vet, who could do nothing but x-ray, give him a shot for pain, and prescribe antibiotics and a muscle relaxer. My brother, Dennis and I called and spoke with 3 clinics- 2 in Arkansas, 1 in Oklahoma, and he was scheduled for surgery Monday morning at 8:00 AM in Tulsa. We had to cancel; they want their pay up front. It will cost around $4,000, probably more because of longer hospital stay($2-300/day), plus expenses already incurred and for the trip and accommodations. A Board Certified Orthopedic Veterinary Surgeon is not easy to find. We rescheduled with Dr. Sharp at Advanced Vet. Surgery and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville for yesterday - February 27th, but still didn’t have enough for the 50% deposit required. Gumbeaux’s front and rear right legs are splintered from 2 small caliber bullets, the third bullet passed through his right rear upper thigh, he also cries when I touch him in the rear, and I cannot see why, and he has buckshot in him from a shotgun as well. He was apparently in the road (gravel road off hwy between our 2 sides) or on OUR property, because there’s no way he could have walked after having his two legs literally snapped in two (as I was shown and told by our vet; I have pictures). Your prayers are greatly appreciated; Gumbeaux is greatly loved and full of love. He’s on antibiotics and pain medication, eating some and drinking water, wagging his tail when I say his name, but he is in extreme pain when he’s moved, and has no idea why he can’t walk. After taking care of our Daddy for years, my brother, Dennis and I have not had regular work, so after his passing 3 & 1/2 months ago, I’ve not yet been able to establish steady jobs; I am a musical evangelist, missionary, therapist, and entertainer, doing the best I can.
Please, I am so sorry to ask, but they want the money up front. Our faithful dog, Gumbeaux, is worth it; so if you can help, please, help us make Gumbeaux run again.
Thank you so very much for your time and consideration,
Brian Patrick Hargiss, and brother, Dennis Hargiss
