We have the happiest news to share about our sweet boy, Guru!
When Guru first arrived at the clinic, he was suffering from a severe wound beneath his jaw, with tissue that had begun to die and an infection that required immediate treatment. To make matters even more frightening, he was also showing signs of distemper.
He needed intensive medical care, including daily wound treatment, IV fluids, antibiotics and supportive medications. Thanks to the incredible care he received — and to everyone who donated to help make that care possible — Guru fought his way through. ❤️
And today, we are thrilled to tell you that Guru has a safe place to call home. Guru was initially rehomed, but after a few days, his new owners had to return him to Baw Baw Animal Welfare because of a personal matter. While that wasn't the outcome anyone expected, Guru's story still has a very happy ending.
Guru is now happily staying at our sanctuary! 🥰 After everything this gentle boy has endured, seeing him safe, cared for and surrounded by people who love him means everything to us.
No more wondering where his next meal will come from. No more facing the streets alone. No more uncertainty about whether someone will be there when he needs help. Guru has a sanctuary. He has safety. And most importantly, he has people who aren't giving up on him. ❤️
We want to send our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Guru through his medical crisis. Your generosity helped give him the lifesaving treatment he needed when he was at his most vulnerable.
Because of you, Guru didn't just survive. He got his second chance. And now, he gets to enjoy it. 🐾❤️

This gentle boy arrived at the clinic with a severe wound beneath his jaw. The tissue has begun to die, leaving him with a painful injury that requires immediate medical care to prevent the infection from spreading even further.
As the veterinary team examined him, they discovered something even more concerning—Guru is also showing signs of distemper, a dangerous virus that can quickly become life-threatening without treatment.
Right now, Guru is receiving intensive care, including daily wound treatment, IV fluids to keep him hydrated, powerful antibiotics to fight infection, and supportive medications to give his body the strength it needs to keep fighting. His veterinarians will closely monitor his progress over the coming days and adjust his treatment as needed.
Guru deserves the chance to heal, but he can’t do it alone.
