About this campaign

Gus was found roaming the streets as a 3-week-old puppy. A good samaritan took him to a rescue where he was given his vaccines and a safe home until we were able to adopt him. He was born on the 4th of July (roughly) and was found in early August, which is how he got his name Gus. When we adopted him, he was so small and happy.

Recently, as of April 7th, 2026, we noticed Gus having severe symptoms of lethargy, no appetite, and significant drooling. We rushed him in the evening to the Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Redlands, 20 minutes away, where he tested positive for Parvo. Despite having the parvo vaccine as a puppy, he somehow contracted it and he was near death. He would need round-the-clock treatment for 3 days.

After losing our family dog of 13 years in February 2025, we decided to wait until the time was right to get a new dog. My 6-year-old son, being an only child, was really missing having a playmate. Gus has really been a godsend to our son, who suffers with anxiety, and Gus is truly his best friend. They go on walks, bike rides, and car rides almost weekly. Gus even rides in the car to school.

The treatment for Parvo was extremely significant. To keep Gus healthy to help maintain his hydration with care for 3 days in the hospital was over $12,000. We didn't know what to do financially, but the amount of pain our son would have endured losing Gus was not an option.
