Haku came into my life during the pandemic, and I adopted her. Most of the time, it is just me and Haku at home together because my parents are rarely around. I'm a part-time student and work full-time at medical office with a low hourly pay. Therefore, we spend a lot of time together, with her running to me after work to greet me at the door to sitting in my lap all day while I study.

Haku is pretty happy most of the time. She's always super excited around people and other dogs. She spends most of her time with me when I get home from work and sometimes with my mom when she is around. Our favorite pastime together is exploring new parks, so every so often we would take a day trip to a new park in the city and walk around.

Haku is such a good girl. Every morning, we let her out by herself so she can have her restroom break, and when she finishes, she waits by the door for someone to let her in. If no one lets her in quick enough, she only barks once. Just one time, and then wait again. She also grabs a toy and wiggles her tail around happily every time she greets someone expecting that person to play with her.

My dog was seen at LAASER Los Angeles Specialty and is suspected to have IVDD which caused one of her discs to slip. She is currently paralyzed in her hind legs and has lost bladder control. She needs emergency surgery within 24 hours to regain the possibility of walking again. The vet quoted me $15,000 for the surgery, MRI, bloodwork, and other treatments.

Haku is my best friend. The only one who greets me when I come home, the only one who will run to me when I call her name. The only one by my side when I am always alone. I just want to see her happy and running. I want her to live her life to the fullest too.
