Hank's story will break your heart!

At just eight months old, he was dumped in the woods with his belongings, toys, food, bed, and bowls while he waited patiently for help.

Then someone spotted Hank. He got picked up, sent to a kill shelter, and scheduled to be euthanized. But Humans and Animals United raced to save him.

"We absolutely could not say no to that desperate face," Rosa F., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "His tail immediately started wagging, and we were given plenty of kisses."

The group rushed him to the animal hospital, where they discovered he was malnourished and had a fractured leg. Hank's surgeon estimates the pup was suffering for two weeks in the woods.

"We could only imagine the abandonment he must have felt left by the family he loved. Waiting like a good boy in his bed while in pain, with no water and a closed bag of food," Rosa says.

Hank is now recovering in the animal hospital and will need surgery to repair his leg. Despite all he's been through, he's in good spirits.
