About this campaign
Harley is a service dog, trained to help me navigate life with autism and fibromyalgia. He can provide deep pressure cuddles to help with sensory regulation, guide me to help with mobility, and alert to my physical needs by reminding me to eat, drink, and take medications. He also senses when pain flares are coming so that I can be prepared.
Harley needs to have a few teeth extracted at Flint Veterinary. As a service dog, it's necessary to keep him up to date on his care so that he can perform his job without issue. Dental care is especially important at Harley's age to prevent infection or other diseases that can begin in the mouth. Leaving these teeth in would put him at risk for heart, lung, and liver trouble farther down the line.
At home, Harley is a goofball with a huge personality. He loves to squeak his toys, horseplay with my boyfriend, and sprawl out for belly rubs. His favorite game is to steal my warm seat on the couch whenever he gets the chance. Harley takes his job very seriously though- as soon as the vest goes on, he knows he is "on the clock". He won't sway from his duties for any amount of food or pets.
I'm on a fixed income due to my disabilities. Despite being necessary for my health, insurance doesn't cover service animals. Dental work isn't covered by any service dog funds either. It would take much longer than is safe to wait for me to save this money on my own.
