About this campaign
I adopted Hatchet from the Athens County Dog Shelter here in Ohio on June 5th, 2021. My dog Jethro passed away about two months prior at the age of 15 from just things that come with old age and I made the decision to let him go peacefully.
Hatchet is so unique. I was told he was a Dutch Shepard. When I met him he was sooo quiet and shy. I did a DNA test and has about 8 different breeds in him.
Hatchet is so fearful. He is scared basically of everything. Everyday we work on something. He has a behavioral vet out of OSU, a ortho vet, a regular vet, and Dr. Melanie Uhde is his trainer. Its just him and I against the world. He has about 2-3 other humans he trusts but we are working on that often as we can.
He is just a goofy boy and wicked smart. Hatchet is a total sweetheart. He just doesn't trust easy and is what some might call 'emo' he hates being alone for any period of time. Love watching him run around and up/down the stairs. He is just always wanting to learn and pays attention to just about everything all the time.
He has luxating patellas in both his rear knees. I noticed the issue when he started walking goofy. I kept an eye on his paws and such thinking something got stuck.
I do have insurance on him but no idea if they will cover one or both. I also am a teacher but I pay about $1500 in student loans a month. This is kind of not planned but I am doing things over summer break to come up with the money. His month meds and insurance is $400
