My teenage son and I decided in the beginning of the pandemic that it was time for us to rescue a dog. We immediately went on the ACC website and began to look. As soon as my son saw her crooked face, he said "that's the one!" I don't even remember reading her bio. My son was certain that she was the one. We completed the form expressing our interest in her. I received a call the next day.

Heidi is a mama's girl!She is deaf and does not bark. She was extremely polite from day one! Never jumped on the sofa or bed without permission. I remember saying " no dogs on my bed!" Turned out I was a liar. She has slept with me from day 1! She loves to be around her human brother. She will often check on him by peeking her head in his room when he is playing video games.😅

Heidi loves to sleep completely under the covers although I am always worried if she can breathe under there😀 She knows she is not allowed on the sofa but as soon as we close the door behind us, I can see on the camera that she makes herself most comfortable on the sofa, AFTER she pushes all the pillows off!

Heidi was diagnosed with a huge abdominal mass (splenic). Without surgery the risk of rupture is high.

As a single mother of a teenage boy, unexpected expenses can be catastrophic. Seeing Heidi unable to stand or walk down the stairs to relieve herself is so hard to see. She is quite the lady and would never think of doing her business in the house or a pad!
