Helen is a 12-year-old Dachshund in Athol , MA, who needs $3,500 for Pacemaker .

I first got Helen AKA Honey goose when she was just 5-6 years old from a breeder - usually my family only goes thru a rescue organization but this time we happened to meet someone that breed Dachshunds and decided on the shy Dachshund that was standing in the corner named Helen . Once we brought her home we knew that she would fit right in the family!

Helen is a timid old thing. But once she gets to know you she is a lovebug but honestly she truly is obsessed with her mother. Which I’m totally fine with! She tends to cry when I leave her but gets extremely excited and runs around the house when I get home! She loves to go on walks and chase bunny rabbits! And loves to curl up next to a fire in the winter!

So due to COVID - I normally dog sit but there just isn’t much money to be made as everyone is at home still. So I basically lost my job and have had some hard times and don’t have much money for this procedure - I cannot give up on Helen she is my best friend!

Helen started having episodes where she would fall over randomly and loose all feeling and support in her little legs. So I took her to the ER and found out she was one beat away from having a heart attack - They told me she needed a pacemaker so her heart could beat at a normal rate. The vets told me this would be very expensive but that this is her only hope!

Helen is a very unique dachshund as she doesn’t act like a dog! In our family we laugh because we call her our cat. She is very interested in things - likes to get into whatever you are doing! Helen rarely ever barks - and loves to nudge you with her nose when you are doing something in the kitchen. She always has to know what we are cooking and is there gonna be any left overs for her!
