Help Astro get surgery for torn ligament — Westport, MA

About this campaign

My sweet boy is more than just a dog to me—he's family, my loyal companion, and a very special part of my heart. Before I rescued him, he experienced abuse that left him scared, nervous, and unsure of the world around him. But from the very first night I brought him home, we formed an incredible bond that has only grown stronger with time.

Knowing what he's been through makes the love and trust he has placed in me even more meaningful. Watching him slowly learn that he's safe, loved, and will never have to experience that kind of pain again has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

He has brought me so much unconditional love, happiness, and comfort. Every walk we take, every little adventure, and every memory we create together means the world to me.

All I want is to give him the same love and care that he has given me. Getting him the surgery he needs would mean giving him the opportunity to continue living a happy, healthy life filled with more walks, adventures, and beautiful memories together.

He's already been through so much in his life, and he deserves every chance at a brighter, healthier future. Any support toward his surgery would mean more to us than words could ever express.

Astro is my 6-year-old Pitbull, and anyone who knows him knows how much he deserves to be comfortable on all four legs. In May, he was diagnosed with cruciate ligament disease after a partial tear in his left back leg. In August, it tore fully, and surgery is now recommended. There’s a 50% chance his right leg could tear because of what happened to the left. Without surgery, he'll develop arthritis and if the other one tears, then he'll have two back legs that he can't fully use. The estimate ranges from $6,839.01 to $7,410.76. I want Astro to walk comfortably again, but I can’t manage this cost alone. I am so grateful to anyone who donates or shares this. I truly need as many eyes to see it as possible.

The bond I share with Astro is something truly special and difficult to put into words. He came into my life with a painful past, having experienced abuse that left him fearful and unsure of who he could trust. But from the very first night I brought him home, there was a connection between us that I will always cherish.

What makes our bond so meaningful is knowing that, despite everything he's been through, he chose to trust me. I've had the privilege of showing him what unconditional love, patience, kindness, and safety feel like. In return, he's given me a love and loyalty that words could never fully describe. We've helped each other in ways he may never understand, and he has become such an important part of my life and our family.

His recovery means everything to us because he's not just a pet—he's family. He's a source of happiness, comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. Seeing him in pain and knowing he needs surgery is heartbreaking because all we want is for him to feel safe, healthy, and happy.

After everything he's already overcome, he deserves the chance to enjoy life without pain or limitations. We want to see him continue doing the little things that bring him joy, especially going on walks, exploring the world, spending time with his family, and making beautiful memories together.

I may have rescued him from his past, but in so many ways, he's brought just as much love and healing into my life. Helping him recover isn't just about getting him through surgery. It's about giving him the future he deserves and making sure we have many more years of love, companionship, and unforgettable memories together.

I'm reaching out to the kindness and generosity of our community because my sweet boy needs surgery, and I want to do everything in my power to give him the care and recovery he deserves. Asking for help isn't easy, but when it comes to someone you love so deeply, you're willing to put your pride aside and do whatever it takes.

Like so many families, we're facing the reality that unexpected veterinary expenses can be overwhelming. While I wish I could cover the entire cost of his surgery on my own, I'm turning to the community in hopes of easing some of that financial burden and making sure he receives the treatment he needs.

After everything he's endured in his life, especially the abuse he experienced before being rescued, he deserves a future filled with love, happiness, comfort, and security. He's already overcome so much, and I don't want financial limitations to stand in the way of giving him the best possible chance at a healthy recovery.

I'm not asking anyone to give more than they're comfortable with. Whether it's a small donation, sharing his story, or simply keeping him in your thoughts, every act of kindness means more to our family than words can express.

It truly takes a village sometimes, and right now, I'm hoping our village can help give my sweet boy the second chance at a healthy, happy life that he deserves.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read his story, for your compassion, and for any support you're able to offer.
