About this campaign

Buddy came into my life unexpectedly in late September 2014. My then-husband found him on a cold, rainy evening after my stepson saw something run underneath their car. When the car door opened, Buddy jumped inside, landed on his foot, and refused to leave.

At the time, I did not like dogs—in fact, I was afraid of them—so I was not happy when this little stray came home. We checked for a microchip and tried to make sure no one was looking for him, but eventually Buddy stayed. He was young, probably around a year old, and still chewing socks and shoes.

Little by little, Buddy won me over. If I sat on the couch, he was nearby. If I went into my bedroom, he would be under the bed. Before I knew it, I was the one walking him and taking him to the veterinarian. When my marriage ended, Buddy came with me. He has been beside me through my divorce, moving into an apartment, and starting over.

Buddy didn't just make me love him—he changed how I felt about dogs completely. Because of him, I became a dog lover. He found his way into that car in 2014, but ultimately, he found his way into my heart. With heavy financial commitments like a mortgage, his owner's remaining CareCredit balance is running thin

after initial diagnostic biopsies. 100% of the funds raised through Waggle go directly to his veterinary hospital,

Angel Care, to fund his medical monitoring and care. Please consider a donation to help keep Buddy happy,

pain-free, and marching along on his favorite park walks.

Recently, a persistent, non-healing ulcer on his leg led to a
devastating diagnosis: an undifferentiated scirrhous carcinoma. The cancer is at a microscopic stage. His chest xray, abdominal ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound showed no tumors.
Because of that, Buddy is a perfect
candidate for Palladia (toceranib phosphate) targeted chemotherapy to stabilize the disease and freeze tumor growth. To ensure his internal organs can safely handle treatment, Buddy requires extensive baseline blood panels, urinalysis, and close medical monitoring. His family is pulling out all the stops, combining Western oncology with home-based canine acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments to maintain his high quality of life.

Buddy is special to me because he changed my heart. When he came into my life in 2014, I didn’t like dogs and was actually afraid of them. He had been found outside on a cold, rainy day, and somehow he ended up becoming part of our family.

Little by little, Buddy won me over. If I sat on the couch, he was nearby. If I went into another room, he followed me. Before I knew it, I was walking him, taking him to the vet, caring for him, and loving him.

Buddy has also been with me through some major changes in my life, including my divorce and moving into an apartment and eventually into my own home. Through all of those changes, he has been my constant companion.

What makes Buddy especially special is that he didn’t just make me love him—he taught me how to love dogs. Because of Buddy, the person who once didn’t want a dog now loves dogs in general. He found his way into my home by accident, but he found his way into my heart and changed it forever.

Despite his age, Buddy is full of life—he greets every day with vibrant energy, loves his daily walks at the park, and enthusiastically pulls on his leash to greet other dogs.
