Help Bella Get the Leg Amputation She Needs to Beat Cancer

Meet Bella, an adorable 14-year-old Cocker Spaniel Poodle mix (Cockapoo) service dog from Colorado who has been diagnosed with a cancerous mass adjacent to long bone. Bella needs surgery to amputate her leg. Her surgery—costs approximately $1,720.

Paws 4 A Cure is providing a $400 grant, but Bella's mom is trying to raise an additional $205 so she can continue receiving the treatment she desperately needs.

“Bella is a 14-year-old cocker spaniel poodle (cockapoo) service dog.

Bella came a part of my life as her previous owner had brain cancer and died. I was the chosen family member that was capable of training her into a full fledge service dog.

The illness was noticed back in March 2026.  Bella was taken to a vet clinic to have an aspirate test done. No certainty of the final conclusion. I had no further funds for any further testing.

Being indigent, and on SSI becomes a very difficult situation. Several veterinary places were called to see if there was any better place to go to. I called the Humane Society there was a brief ultrasound scan of her abdomen scan done. We found that her liver is subjectively enlarged but otherwise no abnormalities were noted. Liver enlargement can happen for a variety of reasons, we would need to “run her blood work” to make sure she is a good surgical candidate and see what her liver values are. The veterinarian said that if Bella is a candidate, they do have the capabilities of keeping Bella after surgery. Monitoring her overnight is very critical, as due to her age factor she should be monitored. This clinic is the best option for poor Bella.

Bella means the world to me! Bella is my best friend and we do everything together. She knows her manners, understands when walking her to turn right, or left. Loves it when I cook her breakfast each morning, and gets her face cleaned up directly after eating her breakfast.

I have always gotten many multiple compliments on how well behaved and loving my Bella is and aways a joy to be around when she is with others. She acts more like a human being than a dog. When she goes out to eat, she will sit up in a chair and she won't move as she gets fed just like a small child.  Everyone gets a real kick being around Bella. She has always helped on the disabled when she went to this one library and all loved Bella. I was known as the lady of Bella. Bella was why they knew of me. She came 1st always!

I currently need funds for her Blood work, Chest x-rays due to the diagnosis is Cancer of her right leg.
