About this campaign

Blitzen is the definition of a gentle soul—an extraordinarily sweet, intuitive, and loving dog who brings a quiet comfort to everyone around him. He has a calm, big-hearted demeanor and a natural talent for sensing exactly when someone needs extra affection, whether that means leaning gently against your legs or resting his head right in your lap. Fiercely loyal and quietly resilient, he possesses a steady, peaceful energy that instantly brightens the home. He is a joyful, deeply affectionate companion whose entire world revolves around showing unconditional love to the people he holds dear.

Blitzen is currently dealing with a concerning mass on the outside of his right ear. It is coin-sized, semi-hard, and wet—irritated and raw due to an underlying ear infection that causes him to scratch at it constantly. At this point, the mass could be a non-cancerous growth such as a histiocytoma or sebaceous cyst, or an aural hematoma caused by the trauma of scratching, but we need a definitive diagnosis.

To get him back on the mend, Blitzen needs a thorough veterinary examination, diagnostic testing (a fine-needle aspirate or biopsy) to check for malignancy, wound treatment for the irritated lump, and prescription medication (medicated drops and antibiotics) to clear up the ear infection so he can stop scratching.

His current medical care and diagnostics are being managed by Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic. For major health challenges in the past—specifically when he successfully fought off lymphopenia at eight years old—he received specialty care at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough. We are working closely with Bound Brook Vet to ensure he gets the exact treatment and relief he needs right now.

Blitzen joined our family thirteen years ago when he was just a four-month-old puppy, and he has been an irreplaceable part of our lives ever since. From the moment he walked through our doors, my daughters embraced him completely, and the three of them became inseparable companions from day one.

Over the years, Blitzen has shown remarkable resilience. When he was eight years old, he faced a health setback with lymphopenia, but he made a full recovery and has enjoyed good health ever since. Four years ago, during the difficulty of a divorce, he served as a constant source of comfort and joy—acting as a true light in our lives when we needed it most.

Today, Blitzen remains central to our daily routine. Even though the girls are now away at college, their bond with him remains as strong as ever, and they miss him immensely while they are away. He is far more than a pet; he is a cherished member of our family.

Recently, Blitzen developed a new health concern: a mass suspected to be a histiocytoma or a sebaceous cyst. Given how deeply intertwined he is with our family's journey, his recovery means everything to us. He is not merely a pet, but the heart of our household and a comforting connection home for my daughters while they are away at school. Restoring his health ensures that our family's central pillar of loyalty and affection remains by our side.

I’ve always believed that being part of a community means standing by one another—whether through moral support or a helping hand when times get tough. Right now, my family and I find ourselves needing that support, which is why I am humbly turning to the community for help.

I work full-time as a high school teacher, but like so many others, I am finding it increasingly hard to make ends meet in today's economy. Between supporting my two daughters through college, handling alimony payments, and keeping up with the rising cost of living, my single budget is stretched to its absolute limit.

Blitzen has been a constant source of comfort and joy in our lives for 13 years. He isn't just a pet—he is a core member of our family, and abandoning him or ignoring his medical needs in a moment like this simply isn't an option for us. With his recent health issue—a growing lump that requires proper veterinary care and treatment—the unexpected medical costs are more than I can manage on my own right now.

Asking for financial help isn't easy, but I have no other choice if I want to ensure Blitzen gets the care he desperately needs. Any support you can offer, whether through a donation or simply sharing our story, means the world to me, my daughters, and our sweet Blitzen.
