About this campaign
Blue is a 10-year-old terrier mix who was a Texas rescue who was an anxious puppy that had a hard time trusting people. Over the years, he has grown into the sweetest, gentlest, most loyal dog and an incredibly important part of our family. He loves going on walks and adventures, and keeping a close eye on all of us. He is our faithful companion, and we can’t imagine our family without him.
Blue is suffering from severe, life-threatening anemia associated with a markedly enlarged and abnormal spleen, and his veterinary team has recommended a splenectomy as his best chance for recovery. He will need a blood transfusion to safely undergo surgery and will receive his surgical and hospital care at Summit Veterinary Referral Center.
Blue has grown up alongside our three children and his dog brother, Huckle, and has been a steady, loving presence through every stage of our family’s life. With our oldest just leaving for college, our family is already going through a huge transition, and losing Blue at the same time would be heartbreaking. We desperately want him home, healthy, and back with Huckle and the family who loves him.
We have already spent $4,000 on Blue’s emergency care and testing His surgery, transfusion, and hospitalization are expected to cost another $9,000–$11,000. We simply cannot absorb an unexpected veterinary bill of this size.
