About this campaign

Charlie was a stray near a vineyard with no homes nearby. For two weeks, he ran scared from people and vehicles, with coyotes in the area. One day, a woman asked if I would take him if she could catch him. I said yes. She placed a cage in front of him, and he didn’t fight or run—he simply went in. It felt like he was finally ready to be saved. I brought him home, and he became family.

Charlie has been treated by Dr. Bell and Dr. Reyes at Monarch Dunes Veterinary Clinic. He suddenly lost the use of his back legs and now needs a board-certified neurologist, advanced imaging, and possibly spinal surgery. We want to pursue surgery if he is a candidate, but the cost is overwhelming. I am trying everything possible to raise the money to give Charlie that chance.

Charlie deserves the same chance every loved dog deserves. Before he found us, I don’t know what he endured. Even now, loud noises, a broom, or a sudden movement can send him running to hide. But with us, he learned he was safe and loved. He cuddles beside me at night and has finally found his family. He survived so much to get here. I don’t want his story to end now when he still has a chance.

I’m a single mom and the only one working full-time while my son attends college full-time. I have no other financial support. Just 3 weeks ago, I lost my beloved cat to cancer. I’m still recovering from those expenses, and now Charlie urgently needs me too.

Charlie is home! Strict bed rest for about a month. He can potty in his own and pooped outside this morning 🙏🏼🫶🏼 he is trying to walk but that is still a little ways away from happening. One day at a time. He’s slowly healing as he should be. Truly happy with his tiny wins everyday. Thank you again

    Charlie’s Monday Update 🐾❤️

Charlie had emergency spinal surgery Friday night at UC Davis. Saturday he had no pain response in either back leg. By Sunday, he showed a very small pain response in his left leg, but none in his right. Today he remains the same. His doctor says it is still early, and they will continue watching closely for changes as his spinal cord heals.

In the next couple of days, they may remove his catheter and begin bladder expression if he is unable to urinate on his own.

Charlie is still hospitalized at UC DAVIS near Sacramento Ca. He is four hours from home, so I don’t have new photos yet. Right now, rest and healing are most important. I’ll continue updating everyone as I hear from his doctors. Thank you for supporting Charlie. ❤️
