About this campaign

Meet Comet — our goofy Saint Bernard and the heart of our house. We drove to Kentucky to bring her home, and that same day a comet streaked across the sky. That's how she got her name. She's a certified goofball with the most human-like personality — she makes us laugh daily, cuddles like she invented it, and looks at you like she understands every word.

Comet stopped eating and lost 20 lbs (111→90). Blood work showed low cortisol, pointing to Addison's disease — the "great pretender." She's had the confirmatory test; results expected Oct 1–2. If confirmed, she'll need lifelong meds (~$300/mo). If not, more diagnostics or possible surgery. We've paid $474 out of pocket so far.

Comet is family. She's my daughter Kiki's dog — Kiki is autistic, and Comet gives her comfort, confidence, and security no person could. She's been my companion through three shoulder surgeries, parked beside me through every long recovery. After we lost our 11-year-old Lab to cancer, Comet filled our empty house with love and laughter again.

I'm a single mom on workers' comp — three shoulder surgeries, permanent restrictions, no shifts, no paycheck. We've paid $474 for Comet's care already; my parents help with rent. We can't cover what's next alone.

Update 10/7: Comet has been diagnosed with large-cell lymphoma (confirmed October 2nd) and started chemotherapy at BluePearl Pet Hospital on October 7th. Her treatment costs about $3,800. Every dollar donated through Waggle goes directly to BluePearl for her treatment.
