About this campaign
Daisy May was brought to a veterinary office to be euthanized after being found outside, unable to use her back legs. Thankfully, our friend Jordyn, who works at the veterinary office, reached out to Wild Whiskers to see if we could help her before that final decision was made. Her condition didn't look promising, but we couldn't let her go without at least trying to find answers.
We welcomed Daisy May into our rescue and immediately got her to our amazing Dr. Adams at PGA Animal Clinic. The phone call we received from Dr. Adams brought tears of overwhelming relief and happiness!
Despite our initial fears, Dr. Adams believes Daisy May has a chance to recover some function and enjoy a good quality of life! While we don't know how much mobility she will regain, she is otherwise healthy, comfortable, and showing encouraging signs.
Daisy May is suspected to have a spinal cord injury affecting the nerve signals traveling to her back legs. Depending on the extent of the injury, some nerve function may return with time. Physical therapy is incredibly important to help prevent muscle loss and joint stiffness, maintain mobility, and keep her little legs as healthy as possible while we give her body time to heal.
Another huge blessing? Daisy May can urinate and defecate on her own! She cannot get herself to a litter box yet, so keeping her and her fluffy fur clean requires constant attention. But that is an inconvenience we are MORE than happy to take on for this precious girl!
We have her first physical therapy appointment scheduled for Tuesday, where we hope to begin specialized treatment and learn exercises we can continue throughout each day at home. Dr. Adams has also started us on gentle water therapy at home.
We know this journey won't be easy, inexpensive, or come with any guarantees. Daisy May will need veterinary monitoring, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and extensive daily care. But after coming so close to losing her life without ever getting this opportunity, she deserves every reasonable chance we can give her.
Please consider donating toward Daisy May's medical care and rehabilitation. Every donation helps us give this sweet baby the opportunity to heal, regain whatever mobility she can, and live the happy, comfortable life she deserves.
She was almost denied a chance. Together, we can make sure she gets one
