Dexter is a beautiful loving soul. He has been the light of our lives for 16.6 years. He is a resilient fighter who acts as vital emotional support for my retired elderly mother; full-time caregiver to my younger brother, who suffers from some debilitating conditions. Despite his age, Dexter is incredibly resilient and nothing short of a miracle. He continues to defy the odds with his recoveries.
It broke our hearts when nasal congestion/discharge turned out to be oral malignant melanoma, a fast-growing and painful mouth cancer. Our oncologist at MedVet Chicago recommends a complete, phased radiation and immunotherapy plan to manage pain and keep him comfortable. Your kind support is our only hope to fund his care and bless us with more priceless, cozy time with our precious miracle boy.
Dexter is a resilient fighter and nothing short of a miracle; not only did he recover remarkably from a life-saving splenectomy for a bleeding mass earlier this year (despite everyone’s expectations), Dexter’s spirit, will to thrive, and remarkable ability to recover amazes every vet he encounters. He is a precious member of our family; the light and joy of the household; he means the world to us.
My retired mom is on a fixed income. Insurance is 100% maxed from recent biopsy, and CareCredit is depleted from life-saving splenectomy. A recent emergency during his CT scan put us even deeper in debt. Community support is our last hope to save this brave miracle boy.

It is heartwarming to see him playing with his toys again!
He is fighting so hard every single day and we are incredibly proud of our little miracle. His oncology team is pleased with how he is responding to his treatments and they now see how special he really is!

Dexter’s Fight Continues ❤️
We wanted to share a quick update on our brave lil'ol man. Every day, he shows us how strong he is and is fighting with everything he has; clearly telling us he is not ready to go! He is not giving up, and neither are we! We are going to stand right by his side and fight along with him for as long as it takes.
I wanted to upload a video of his 'happy rubbing' all over the bed, but I could only upload a picture, so here is a picture of him on the car ride to his vet appointment.

A Special Tribute to Dexter’s Medical Heroes ❤️
While our main campaign focuses on Dexter's medical journey and ongoing needs, we wanted to dedicate a special space to honor the incredible veterinary heroes who are healing our miracle boy Dexter.
Dr. Bhatt and her wonderful team at Bhatt Integrative Veterinary Specialty have been the absolute foundation of Dexter's life and health. Her guidance has been our rock from the very beginning. Beyond their exceptional medical expertise, Dr. Bhatt and her team bring genuine love, deep compassion, and unwavering support to every single visit. From sudden health scares to routine checkups, they have always treated Dexter and our family like their own. They continue to walk hand-in-hand with us through this heartbreaking new chapter.
We also owe a massive thank you to Dr. Wilson and the exceptional surgical team at BluePearl Pet Hospital Northfield for performing Dexter's life saving splenectomy and providing such incredible care.
As we navigate this current crisis, Dr. Faletti and her amazing oncology team at MedVet have been an incredible guiding light, providing immense support and compassion through his cancer journey.
We also owe thank yous to Dr. Rivera and the dedicated emergency team at Scout Veterinary Urgent Care West Loop, as well as the wonderful team at Partner's Animal Hospital West Loop for being there when we needed and for their continued support.
