About this campaign

Gizmo is my 12-year-old male Yorkshire Terrier, and my very best friend. He has the unique ability of cheering me up when I'm down and no one else can. Since the day I took him home, we've been inseparable. He goes literally everywhere with me. Even to bed where we sleep back to back, every single night. Gizmo came into my life eleven years ago when my late mother adopted him only two short weeks prior to being diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer and wanting me to care for him where she no longer could. Since then, he has been my anchor and the only constant during the most difficult decade of my life and I will do anything for him.

Gizmo has developed severe bilateral perineal hernias. Initially, he only suffered from one, but after two previous surgeries that didn't address the root cause, a second hernia along with a rectal bulge jave developed. He is now under the care of a trusted specialist at Solace Veterinary Specialty Center in St. George, UT. Dr. Andrews has provided a definitive surgical estimate of $6,061.00 for the advanced, corrective bilateral repair surgery he desperately needs. Without this procedure, Gizmo's organs will slide through the hernia, cut off his blood circulation and kill him.

Gizmo is more than just a pet; he is my best friend and my last living connection to my late mother. I can't imagaine my life without him. He still has so much life to live. He relies on me to protect him, and so did my mother. His recovery matters more than I can describe. He has fought so hard beside me and it's my turn to fight for him.

I am the only owner of Gizmo and soley responsible for his care. I am currently unemployed, have no personal income, and receive Medicaid and SNAP benefits. Because of this, I don't qualify for independent veterinary financing. A third party helped secure a Cherry loan for the first two surgeries, and are still actively paying roughly $600 a month for those procedures in addition to an additional $200 for an emergency hospital visit in between the two surgeries. This surgery is entirely different from the first two. Gizmo only had one hernia during those first two incidents. Those previous surgeries did not address the true root cause and unfortunately caused him to develop a second hernia on the other side. This third procedure is exactly the surgery he needs to fix the issue. I am navigating all of this completely on my own. Thank you for your compassion and consideration.
