About this campaign
Gia is a very energetic, smart, cuddly, giant schnauzer pup who came into my life when I was searching for a psychiatric service animal.
Gia decided to eat a crochet hair tie that became lodged in her intestine causing severe obstruction and damage. Gia underwent emergency surgery which included removal of an 8in portion of her intestinal tract. While she was able to get the life saving surgery she critically needed, continued care and monitoring is vital.
Gia became a member of our family after I faced a bout of severe depression and anxiety and PTSD symptoms. Her gentleness has been the bedrock holding me together, allowing me to continue my own treatment, return to work serving in the United States Army. She is our sweet companion and has given me the gift of being able to be more present with my family. We love her with all our hearts.
The unexpected estimated cost range is up to approximately$9500. I am at risk of having to surrender my Gia if I am unable to pay. This emergency could not have happened at a worse time as now when I have fallen on financial and emotionally hard times.
