Final update · September 2, 2026

Thanks to your incredible support, Gracie is officially on the road to recovery! While we couldn't raise enough to bring in the traveling board-certified surgeon, our amazing lead veterinarian stepped up to save her life. They successfully repaired her diaphragmatic hernia, checked for an inguinal hernia, and spayed her all at once so she wouldn't have to undergo anesthesia a second time. Gracie was also heartworm tested (negative!) and caught up on all her vaccines. As for her broken pelvis, we consulted with the board-certified surgeon using her radiographs, and he confidently believes it can heal fully with strict cage rest. Today, Gracie is breathing easy and resting comfortably. She is being pampered in a foster home by one of our seasoned vet technicians, and she already has all of us completely wrapped around her little paw. We are managing her pain closely and showering her with the love she deserves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who donated and shared her story. You made this second chance possible!

About this campaign

This precious dog was surrendered to our clinic after being hit by a car.

X-rays reveal a life-threatening diaphragmatic hernia displacing her organs into her chest, requiring immediate surgery. She also needs repairs for a pelvic fracture and suspected inguinal hernia. Once she heals, we plan to adopt her out to a loving home. We need your help to fund her critical, lifesaving surgeries.

Diagnosis: A life-threatening diaphragmatic hernia displacing organs into her chest, a pelvic fracture, and a suspected inguinal hernia.

Treatment: Immediate emergency hernia repair, surgical pelvic stabilization, and groin repair by a board certified surgeon.

Provider: Critical care is provided by Hannibal Veterinary Clinic. We need urgent funding for these lifesaving surgeries.

This sweet 2-year-old was rescued from severe neglect, only to be hit by a car the same day.

Despite being in tremendous pain, her gentle spirit shines through—she hasn't shown an ounce of aggression and just wants to love. She survived abandonment and a terrible accident; she deserves a real chance at life. Our clinic refused to euthanize her. We want to give her the beautiful future she earned.

Her previous owner tried to save her from neglect, but this sudden accident requires extensive, costly surgeries. Our clinic stepped in so she wouldn't be euthanized, but we cannot fund this alone. She deserves a chance. Please donate to save her life.
