About this campaign
On October 29, a pickup truck pulled out of a parking spot in Knoxville, just off I-275. Underneath it lay a grey cat, shattered and alone.
When my wife Amy stepped toward him, the terror in his eyes was heartbreaking. He tried to drag himself away, but he was too badly hurt to move. She knelt beside him, called me, and said: “I can’t leave him here.”
We named him Grey.
X-rays showed a shattered right femur, a broken left rear leg, a broken pelvis, a dislocated left hip, and swollen internal organs. He’s now fighting an infection in his wounds, on antibiotics, and being watched closely. Once he’s stable, Dr. Vickie Howell at Vet Care Animal Hospital in Greeneville, TN plans to remove the shattered leg and repair his left hip.
Through all that agonizing pain, Grey never cried once. In the car, I turned the heat up to stop his shaking. As I gently petted him, his tail started to move. Even shattered, he was still reaching out to us. Now he’s in the hands of Dr. Howell, who has saved our rescues before: Lucky, a dog hit on a highway who now does backflips, and a kitten Amy pulled from traffic.
Grey didn’t give up under that truck, and we won’t give up on him. His care is estimated at $4,079, more than we can cover alone. Every dollar goes directly to Dr. Howell through Waggle. Please give, or share his story. No amount is too small. — Amy & Agir
