About this campaign

At only eight months old, Hopscotch was running out of time. She was facing euthanasia at the shelter while also living with a painful hip injury that required orthopedic surgery.

Hopscotch needed an FHO, or Femoral Head Osteotomy, after suffering an injury to her hip. An FHO is an orthopedic procedure in which the damaged head and neck of the femur are removed, eliminating painful bone-on-bone contact within the hip joint. After surgery, the surrounding muscles and tissues gradually form a functional "false joint," allowing the dog to regain more comfortable movement.

But before Hopscotch could receive the surgery she needed, she first needed someone willing to save her.

With her deadline quickly approaching, one of Husky House's previous adopters and fosters reached out and offered to take her in. With a committed foster home waiting, Husky House said yes. Hopscotch was pulled from the shelter the following morning and headed off to begin an entirely different chapter of her life.

Getting her safely out was only the first step.

Hopscotch still had a painful orthopedic problem that couldn't simply be left untreated. After being evaluated, she underwent FHO surgery at Garden State Veterinary Specialists to repair her damaged hip and give this young girl the chance to move without the pain caused by her injury.

Now Hopscotch has to recover from major orthopedic surgery. At only eight months old, she should be worrying about toys, naps and everything else that comes with being a puppy, not healing from a serious hip problem after nearly losing her life.

Thankfully, Hopscotch now has a foster home where she can rest and recover, but her medical journey comes with significant veterinary expenses. Donations to her fundraiser will help with the cost of her FHO surgery, specialist care and continued veterinary needs throughout her recovery.

Husky House was able to say yes when Hopscotch needed someone most. Your support can help with the care she still needs as she heals and works toward a future where a painful hip is no longer holding her back.
