Help Jessie Heal After Two Broken Legs

At just four months old, a tiny kitten should be spending her days chasing toys, exploring the world, and discovering all the joys of being young. Instead, Jessie was found suffering from devastating injuries to both of her back legs.

When kindhearted Good Samaritans discovered Jessie, they rushed her to Pet Urgent Care, where veterinarians quickly realized just how serious her condition was. Her left femur was shattered, her right tibia was broken, and she was in tremendous pain. She was also slightly anemic and covered in ticks.

Thankfully, Jessie found her way into the loving care of Dakota's Dream Animal Rescue, but her journey was only beginning.

Initially, veterinarians feared that Jessie's left leg was so badly damaged that amputation would be her only option. For a kitten who had barely begun her life, the thought of losing a leg was heartbreaking. But her rescue team wasn't ready to give up hope.

Jessie was taken to Animal Medical Center, where specialists evaluated her injuries and explored every possible option to save both legs.

Against the odds, surgeons were able to repair both of Jessie's broken legs!

Her extensive surgery involved placing pins in her shattered left femur, a plate in her right tibia, and performing a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) on her left hip. It was an enormous procedure for such a tiny kitten, but Jessie made it through surgery and began the long road toward recovery.

Unfortunately, her struggles didn't end there.

Just as everyone hoped Jessie was finally on the mend, she developed a fever and had to be rushed back to Animal Medical Center. Veterinarians discovered that one of the pins used to repair her broken leg had come loose, requiring yet another surgery.

After everything this little girl has already endured, Jessie is still facing additional veterinary visits and an uncertain road to recovery.

Her young body has been through so much, and the costs of her emergency care, orthopedic surgeries, medications, and follow-up appointments continue to add up for Dakota's Dream Animal Rescue.

Despite all the pain and challenges she's faced, Jessie has been described by her veterinarian as a beautiful, kind soul. She deserves the chance to grow up knowing comfort, love, and all the little adventures that make being a kitten so special.

Please consider making a donation to help Dakota's Dream Animal Rescue with the mounting costs of Jessie's medical care. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps support this sweet little girl's continued recovery and gives her rescue team one less financial burden to worry about.

Jessie has already fought through so much in her short life. Let's help make the next chapter of her story a happier one.
