About this campaign

Joey is a rescued cross-Labrador from South Africa who came to our family in a very poor condition. With patient care, cleaning, and lots of love, he became the gentle, affectionate dog he was meant to be. For the past few years, Joey has been my mother’s loyal companion—friendly, calm, and always close by her side.

Joey injured both hind legs while playing in our garden. He has a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament in his right leg, a torn cranial cruciate ligament in his left leg, and a luxating patella in his left knee. He needs veterinary treatment and likely surgery to relieve his pain, restore mobility, and give him the best chance of recovery.

Joey is far more than a pet to my mother—he is her closest companion and a daily source of comfort, love, and purpose. She is currently unemployed and facing an extremely difficult time, and the bond they share is extraordinary. Our family has loved other dogs, but Joey’s gentle nature and devotion to her are truly irreplaceable.

Our household has very limited income, and we cannot afford the veterinary costs Joey now faces. We have exhausted the help available to us, and this fundraiser is our last hope of getting him the care he needs.
