Final update · September 4, 2026

She passed away on September 4th. We had to put her down due to lack of treatment options without funding. Thank you to all who donated and helped us with her treatment. She ate lots of treats and was able to pass away at the vet with the help of Mountain West Vet hospital in layton. Thank you again

About this campaign

Luna bug is my heart. She is spunky, goofy, crazy! She came into my life when I felt like ending my life. She was about to be surrendered by her adopted family and I drove 12hrs round trip to get her from a state away! She was supposed to be blonde but ended up looking like my childhood dog who I lost to a heart defect. She has been my companion through my mental health journey.

They know she has a spine injury but unsure if it's IVDD or if she just hurt it. They estimate cost to me 8,800 - 10,600 depending on how long the surgery goes. Mountain west specialty hospital in layton would do the surgery. They need it repaired to regain her movement in her legs.

I never wanted another dog due to abusive parents who hurt my dogs growing up. Luna came when I was in crisis mentally and wanting to end my life. She has been by my side since and has helped me through my meltdowns and suicidal thoughts and urges. She is also bonded to my spouses pup. he can't be without her. My spouse and her are adventure buddies as well as I am ill and can't hike or run.

I don't have credit due to alot of medical debt for myself. I have grants to help me get my medicine and sometimes I can't work due to my health. I have tried multiple dog grants and credit cards. We are waiting on putting our only car as collateral but still might not it.

Today, she has gotten worst and isn't using her back legs. Dr says she might need less medication. We are changing her dose and seeing where we go from here.
