About this campaign
Max came into our lives to heal our broken hearts after loosing my dad to cancer and our precious wheaten terrier within the previous year. He looked just like my first childhood dog (Marlie) who we adopted from a shelter in 1992. Max is the sweetest boy with his “full body” hugs, and has an incredible ability to know when his humans need a hug. He is charming, loyal and happy, despite his pain.
Max was recently diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. He had stopped running and playing normally. His team at Purdue Small Animal Hospital have recommended a total hip replacement of his left hip to eliminate his pain and restore function to his joint. He is already developing arthritis in his hip so his surgery is time sensitive. Without surgery his short life will be filled with severe pain.
Max joined our family while we were still grieving the loss of my Dad the year prior, and the loss of our precious Wheaten terrier “Larry” a couple months prior. His precious personality, hugs, and “happy feet” when one of his people walk in the door have brought us joy since the day we brought him home. He has helped us heal. We feel that Max is a gift, he was meant to be ours. And us, “his”.
In 2025 we faced an aggressive cancer in our cat (Poe) who had a radical hind leg amputation. His brother (Kevin) was diagnosed with IBD after a GI bleed. The cost of treatments was so high and we simply cannot afford another surgery right now. And time is crucial for Max.
