About this campaign
By the time Odette received the help she desperately needed, a severe untreated skin condition had left her in tremendous discomfort.
Thankfully, Maison Sure Foundation stepped in to give Odette the chance to heal. She is battling a chronic Demodex infestation that has caused extensive inflammation and affected both her skin and eyes. Her condition became so severe that she needed to be hospitalized, where she could receive around-the-clock medical care while her body was given the time it needed to begin healing.
Her treatment has been intensive. Odette is receiving multiple medications for her skin and eyes, frequent medicated baths, and consistent pain management, including methadone to keep her comfortable through the most difficult parts of her recovery.
Thankfully, her testing has brought some encouraging news. Her X-rays were clear, her weight has remained stable, and while her bloodwork showed the expected signs of inflammation along with mild anemia, there were no other major concerns identified.
But Odette arrived frightened and completely shut down. With her vision affected and everything around her unfamiliar, even understanding that she was finally somewhere safe would take time. Her medical team and the team at Maison Sure Foundation have been giving her that time while surrounding her with the care and comfort she needs.
And slowly, they are beginning to see glimpses of the dog underneath all that discomfort.
Odette's skin has already improved dramatically, and one of her eyes has begun to open. She is visual and has finally become comfortable enough to start exploring the hospital. Little by little, she is beginning to understand that she is safe and surrounded by people who want to help her.
Her condition is treatable, but there is no overnight fix for what her body has endured. For now, Odette will remain hospitalized for as long as necessary while her veterinary team continues her medications, pain management, skin treatments, medicated baths, and supportive care. When she is ready, the hope is that she can move into foster care and continue the next chapter of her recovery in a home.
The wins may not always come quickly, but Odette is already showing what time, treatment, and patience can do. Please consider donating to help Maison Sure Foundation with the veterinary care giving Odette the chance to heal at her own pace and finally experience the comfort she deserves.
